Creative Skillset: Multiple identities in the media industries

We all have multiple identities, and the creative industries need multiple entry routes and progression opportunities to attract and retain the best diverse talent. Creative Skillset is the skills organisation for the creative industries in the UK with an absolute commitment to equality and diversity. This chapter reviews the progress it is making in diversifying the talent pipeline into the industry, following it from school to high level leadership. This chapter addresses critical issues such as the often informal recruitment practices which, in some parts of the industry, embed discrimination, and the introduction of strategies which dissolve barriers by identifying, building and nurturing relationships and creating the conditions for development through skills.
